Reaching us by car: Take junction 33 of the M6, follow A6 southbound for approx. 2 miles. Take right turn onto Cockerham Road. Follow this road for about 3 miles and turn right at T junction (this is Main Street, Cockerham). Notice Village Hall on left, this is where the race finishes. Turn right at The Manor Inn and continue past the garage. Entrance to Cockerham Lake is 100 yards on left. (OS Explorer 296 grid ref 463531).
By Train: Closest railway station is Lancaster. Taxi to Cockerham will cost approx. £10.
Parking: Is available at Cockerham Lake. Additional parking is at Cockerham Village Hall.
Arrival Time: Aim to arrive at least one hour before the race to allow plenty of time to register as well as check in your bike and helmet and to attend the pre-race briefing. All the members of a team must be present before a registration will be accepted. Please bring your own safety pin for the race numbers.
Changing and toilets: Changing and toilet facilities will be available at both the start and the finish.
Luggage: Personal items can be left in cars (there will always be someone at the start until after the race has finished) or at the Village Hall.
Health and safety: St John Ambulance will be in attendance. If you have a specific health condition please inform the race officials at registration.
The Race: We must emphasise that the wearing of helmets is compulsory; no helmet, no ride. The bike leg includes long sections on surfaces that are not sealed and are not suitable for expensive road bikes. Mountain bikes are recommended. The transition area is located at Cockerham Lake. Wet suits are optional for the swimming leg but most competitors at past events have opted to swim without them. Race numbers and swimming caps will be provided at registration.
Good Luck! Whether or not you win a trophy, make sure you enjoy yourself. We look forward to seeing you on the Bank Holiday Sunday.
